SEASON OF LENT IN PROGRESS; LET US ENJOY RE-CREATION OF US

The Season of Lent; Season of Grace and a time of opportunity for renewal

Dear friends of Life, with the third week of Lent approaching, HOW close are we from rebuilding Our IMAGE means the image of God. Often, we are known or reminded of the Season of Lent as a Season of Grace and a time of opportunity for renewal; by the way what is this renewal? Isn’t it the Rebuilding of Our Image that God has created into us, isn’t it the Image St. Paul calls a Temple of God (1Cor:3:16). In our daily lives we ourselves defile or even destroy Our Body the image of God. That is when the season of Lent is an opportunity for Rebuilding the Image of God. This reconstruction is required to live and enjoy God’s amazing gifts including eternal life.

What words can adequately describe God’s gifts? They are so numerous that they defy enumeration. They are so great that any one of them demands our total gratitude in response. Yet even though we cannot speak of it worthily, there is one gift which no thoughtful being can pass over in silence. God fashioned us in his own image and likeness; He gave us knowledge of himself; he endowed us with the ability to think which raised us above all living creatures; He permitted us to delight in the unimaginable beauties of paradise and gave us dominion over everything upon earth.

When we are deceived, defiled and destroyed by sin, which led to death and to all the sufferings associated with death, God still did not forsake us. Moreover, when we continued in sins God did not desert us. This is where the power of Lent, the season of opportunity comes in effect. Those who desire the rebuilding of our Image, all of us should be going through this season of Grace.

As we move forward with Lent step by step, further what we enjoy and experience is the Resurrection of Christ through His Paschal Mystery which is the Recreation of humanity and of the world. A good example of which is at the Easter vigil, we proclaim the first reading from the Book of Genesis the first chapter the creation narration.

He bore our infirmities and endured our sorrows. He was wounded for our sake so that by his wounds we might be healed. He redeemed us from the curse by becoming a curse for our sake, and He submitted to the most ignominious death in order to exalt us to the life of glory. Nor was He content merely to summon us back from death to life; He also bestowed on us the dignity of his own divine nature and prepared for us a place of eternal rest where there will be joy so intense as to surpass all human imagination.

All these show the necessity for a rebuilding of our body and soul the Image of God. How, then, shall we repay the Lord for all his goodness to us? He is so good that he asks no recompense except our love: that is the only payment he desires.

Friends of Christ, let us then Love ourselves by rebuilding us using the great opportunity of Lent.

Lenten Blessings to Everyone.
